Agostinho B. Freitas, 85, of Hudson, died on Thursday, Dec. 9th at Marlboro Hospital. He was the husband of the late Filomena (Resendes) Freitas for 52 years before her death in 2000.
He was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores in Portugal. He moved to Hudson in 1968 from Portugal and has resided here the past 42 years. He was employed as a machine operator by the Hudson Lock, Co. in Hudson for 30 plus years until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
He is survived by his children, Antonio Freitas and his wife Adelaide of Portugal, Jose Braga and his wife Alice of Hudson, Silvino Freitas and his wife Deborah of Hudson, Maria Costa and her husband Simon of California and Laurinda Moura and her husband Tony of Hudson. He is also survived by two sisters, Maria Resendes and Deolinda Braga, both of California; three sisters-in-law, Maria H. Machado and Maria Chaves, both of Canada, Maria Lina Monteiro of Hudson; eleven Grandchildren; three Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose, Manuel, Antonio, Joao and Luis Freitas and Filomena Braga.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
