HUDSON: Agostinho Monteiro, 78, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, in UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA.
Agostinho was born on November 8, 1946, in Santa Maria, Azores, one of eight children of the late Jose Puim Monteiro and Alexandrina Almada Chaves. He attended the School of Calheta in Portugal and moved to Hudson, MA, over 55 years ago, where he remained a lifelong resident. In 1970, he married his beloved wife, Maria. Agostinho had a passion for making wine, gardening, and fishing, particularly in Gloucester and Nantucket. He also held a deep affection for animals.
Agostinho is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Isabel (Carvalho) Monteiro, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by three sisters, Maria Puim, Gloria Melo, and Beatriz Moura, and four brothers, Joao Monteiro, Manuel Monteiro, Jose Puim, and Antonio Monteiro.
Visiting hours will be held from 9 am to 10:30 am on Friday, March 7, 2025, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA, followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, Hudson, for committal services.
