Albert F. "Shorty" Shortsleeves Jr., 83, a life long resident of Hudson, died on Saturday, Dec. 17th at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation of Marlboro. He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Christensen) Shortsleeves of Hudson.
Albert was born in Clinton and raised in Hudson, son of the late Albert F. Shortsleeves Sr. and Eunice (Stone) Shortsleeves. He attended local schools and was a 1946 graduate of Hudson High School. He was employed as a surveyor for 30 plus years by several local companies and later was employed by Skinners Auctioneers in Bolton in charge of building and grounds maintenance for 20 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Albert and his wife Phyllis both enjoyed square dancing. He was a member and past president of the Hickory Hills Square Dance Club of Hudson and also a member and past president of the Bay Path Barn Square Dance Club of Boylston. He enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends and also looked forward to his frequent trips piloting small aircraft out of Marlboro Airport.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two children, John A. Shortsleeves and his wife Kathleen of Fitchburg and Mary Ellen Tobin of Brewster. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Daniel Tobin Jr. of Marlboro and Kelley and Emily Shortsleeves of Fitchburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21st at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow at Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
