Alice V. (Render) Black, 94, of Stow, formerly of Maynard, Boxborough and Illinois, died Monday, May 19 at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
She was born in Lisle, IL daughter of the late Rev. F. Arthur and Edna (Harris) Render.
She was raised in Illinois where she spent most of her life and worked as a Registered Medical Technologist at various hospital laboratories throughout her career. She was a graduate of North Central College in Illinois. She was a professional classical, contemporary pianist. She moved to Stow in January of 2000 and was a member of the Stow Senior Center. She was well known as an authority of Butter Pats and Miniature Plates, antique dealers often relied on her to appraise these items for them. She was a remarkable woman who wrote two books on Butter Pats and Miniature plates in her 80's.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Patricia Fuller and husband Robert of Marlboro; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Truscott of Townsend, Michael White of Lunenburg and 2 great grandchildren, Jasmine Davin of Townsend and Arilyn White of Lunenburg. She was sister to the late Ruth Render.
A funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, May 24, at 4:30 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rooks Creek Cemetery, Pontiac, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: SFCOA for Van Fund, P.O. Box 97, Stow, MA 01775.
