Allan C. Collins, 93, of Berlin, died on Monday, Nov. 11th at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara L. (Balthazar) Collins who died in 2002.
Allan was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Acton and Hattie (Bissonnette) Collins. He attended local schools and served in the U.S. Army as a WWII Veteran. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for many years by New England Tape Co. of Hudson until his retirement. He was also a mechanic by trade. He worked as a mechanic for Durand Chevrolet of Hudson, Tuck's Trucks of Hudson and also owned and operated the former Flying A Garage on Main Street in Hudson prior to working with New England Tape. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and always looked forward to his frequent trips to the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
He is survived by his six children, Allan K. Collins and his wife Marion, Gary L. Collins and his wife Maryann, Nancy Phaneuf and her husband Niel, Diane M. Collins, Michele L. Fernandes and her husband Paul and Thomas S. Collins and his wife Donna Jean, all of Hudson. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael J. Collins in 1962 and was the brother of the late David and Frank Collins.
A funeral service and celebration of Allan's life will be held on Friday, Nov. 15th at 11:30 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
