Alphonse R. Landi, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Nov. 3 after a brief illness.
Born on June 10, 1925 in Cambridge, the son of the late Amelia (Litzi) Landi and Alexander Landi, he served with the Marines during WWII in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action on Feb. 20, 1945 at Iwo Jima, Valcano Islands. On Jan. 11, 1948, he married the love of his life, Constance (Cameleo) Landi whom predeceased him in 2004. He was a salesman for many years for the former HEATHCO-DENTAL SUPPLY Co. Al was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed coin collecting. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He was a member of the Hudson Elks, Salvator Padula Post 82 Disabled American Veterans of Marlboro and the V.F.W. Post 1027 of Hudson. He will be greatly missed by his four children, Linda (Landi) Klein of E. Hartford, CT, Stephen Landi of Bolton, MA, Paul Landi of W. Townsend, MA and Gail (Landi) Moulton of Nashua, NH; one sister Eva Paliuca of E. Falmouth, MA; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He also leaves his numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749. (www.tighehamilton.com).
