Anne M. (Uhlman) Shields, 79, of Hudson died on Sunday, Oct. 4th at her home surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved wife of 44 years of the late James J.Shields, Sr. who died in 1995.
Born in Newtonville Ma, on July 10, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Riley W. and Annie C. (Morrison) Uhlman.
She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Wilfred Academy and worked as a hair dresser for many years.
She was married to James J. Shields in 1951, who was a career United States Air Force Veteran. After their marriage, they began their world wide travels bringing them to such places as Morocco, Africa, and Cambridge, England and several bases within the United States. Ultimately, they settled in Hudson where they continued to raise their five children. Mrs. Shields enjoyed her gardens, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Anne was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson. She is survived by her five children, James Shields and his wife Donna of Folsom, CA, William Shields and wife Susan of Monument, CO, Christine Lankowski and her husband, Jan of Hudson, MA, Lorraine Shields of Clearwater, FL, and Matthew Shields and his wife, Deborah of Milford, MA; her grandchildren, Keith, Kevin, William, Megan, Katherine, Lindsay and her husband Joseph, Annie, Samantha, Taylor, Emma, Liam and Grace along with four great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 8th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
