Anthony J. (Tony) Pimentel, 92, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly at his home after being stricken ill on Sunday, Feb. 16th. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sophia Ann (Wolik) of Hudson.
Tony was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Manuel and Georgiana (Soares) Pimentel. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. Following High School he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly served as a veteran of WWII aboard a PT Boat patrolling the coastal waters of the United States. He was employed as a letter carrier by the U.S. Postal Service for many years until his retirement. He was a member and Past Commander of the Hudson V.F.W.; member and Past Commander of the American Legion in Hudson and was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Tony was an avid outdoorsman, he always looked forward to the hunting and fishing seasons and also enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. He was an accomplished ice skater, especially in his younger years skating on local ponds and streams. Both Tony and his wife Sophia shared a passion for Ball Room Dancing. They would often clear the dance floor as fellow dancers moved aside to watch the two dance in unison. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a gift to the community he cherished and loved.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother, John Pimentel of Oragon; his loving in-laws and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 20th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend a calling hour on Thursday, Feb. 20th from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com) prior to the mass.
