Hudson, MA
Antonio D. Cavaco, 61, a long time resident of Hudson, died on Tuesday, March 22nd at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester. He leaves his beloved wife of 37 years, Mary E. (Boyd) Cavaco of Hudson.
Antonio was born in St. Miguel in Portugal, son of the late Arthur S. and Beatriz (Medeiros) Cavaco. He was raised in Hudson where he attended local schools and was a 1967 graduate of Hudson High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged.
Antonio most recently was employed as a Professional Land Surveyor and Office Manager by DGT, Inc. a Surveying and Engineering Company in Boston. He was well known in his field and was a member of the MALSCE (Mass. Assoc. of Land Surveyor's and Civil Engineers, Inc.) and held several positions, including President from 1997 to 1999. He was also well known for his work as chair of the MALSCE Land Court Standards Committee. He worked on the 250 CMR Committee on behalf of the profession. He was the recipient of the coveted MALSCE Llewellyn T. Schofield Award in 2001. He was a member of the EMALS, (Eastern Mass. Assoc. of Land Surveyor's), a member of the Hudson Odd Fellows and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Bryan F. Cavaco of Hudson; his two brothers, Frank M. Cavaco and his fiancAC., Deborah Craig of Hudson, Manuel M. Cavaco of Hudson; his niece, Kathy M. Nicholl and her husband Stephen of Hudson, his nephew, Kevin Cavaco of London, England and his two grand nephews who where "the apple of his eye", Charles F. and Pierce M. Nicholl, both of Hudson. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Emma E. and John A. Craig III of Hudson; his sister-in-law, Ann-Marie Trebendis of Westboro, wife of the late Jose M. Cavaco who died in 2005 and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and dear friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 25th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
