Armando R. Silva, 86, of St. Petersburg, FL, former longtime resident of Berlin, died on Wednesday, March 9th in St. Petersburg after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Maureen (Welch) Silva who died in 2003.
Armando was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Norbert and Marian (Freitas) Silva. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson H.S. He began his career as an automotive mechanic with Al Durand's Garage in Hudson and soon after spent 40 plus years as a mechanic with the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a member of the Guard for 20 plus years and remained working as a mechanic with the guard until his retirement. He also owned and operated A&S Carburetor Service in Berlin for several years.
Armando was known for his work ethic and his genuine willingness to assist others within his trade. He cherished the 50 years of marriage to Maureen and his passion in life was his family. He especially looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren later in his life. He enjoyed his short time residency in Florida but truly missed the community he grew up in and the wonderful people he had the privilege of meeting.
He is survived by his children, Rick Silva and wife Connie, Steven Silva, Lynn Warlick and husband Bill, Glen Silva and Lori Farraj. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Allison and Mike Silva; Kristina and James Furlan; Brielle, Brittany and R.J. Farraj along with his two adoring great grandchildren, Aliyah and Alivia Bailey.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, March 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tighe-AHamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a service and celebration of Armando's life at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately in Forestvale Cemetery at a later date.
