Arthur G. Bahl, 64, of Hudson, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10th at Marlboro Hospital.
Arthur was born in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Arthur R. and Dorothy M. (Bronder) Bahl. He attended local schools in Pittsburgh and later received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University; a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Ohio State University; a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech University and a master's Degree in Math and Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of MENSA. He was employed by IBM in Georgia for several years until he found a passion for teaching. He taught math and science at the high school level in Maryland, Texas and his hometown Pittsburgh, PA.
Besides his family, education and teaching, Arthur cherished his role as Santa Claus every Christmas season. He was a member of the "International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santa's" and was fondly known as "Santa Artie" by all who knew and loved him. During his years in Atlanta Georgia, Santa Artie volunteered and spent countless hours with "Project Santa", an organization that collected and provided Christmas Gifts to so many underprivileged youths in the area. He was very proud to receive a commendation from the Governor of Georgia for his unselfish dedication to "Project Santa" over the years. His memory and charitable personality will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Saluk and her husband Bruce of Hudson; his nephew, Bobby Saluk of Hudson; his two nieces, Marianne Saluk-Apicello of Santa Cruz, CA and Jenny Saluk of Chicago, IL along with his grand-niece and grand-nephew, Gianna and Andre Apicello.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 19th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Thursday, Feb. 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-AHamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
