Barbara (Lovett) Van Buskirk, 102, a life long resident of Hudson, died on Thursday, June 21st at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Van Buskirk who died in 1980.
Barbara was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Joseph and Nettie (Murphy) Lovett. She attended local schools and was a 1927 graduate of Hudson High School. She later attended Framingham State College receiving a Degree in Teaching in 1930. Barbara spent a short time teaching at the elementary school level in Falmouth and then was an elementary school teacher in Hudson until her retirement in 1973.
She is survived by her three sons, Richard Van Buskirk of Hudson, Joseph Van Buskirk and his wife Patricia of Marlboro and Peter Van Buskirk and his wife Susan of Millbury. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter and Louie Lovett.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Saturday, June 23rd from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson followed by a funeral service on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
