Barbara (Burns) Johnson, 77, of Worcester, formerly of Hudson and Marlboro, died Sunday, July 29th at Marlboro Hills Healthcare Center. She is survived by her three children, Lynda Stone of Haverhill, Mark Johnson and his wife Patricia of Holden and Cyndy Curley and her husband Paul of Sterling. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jessica Smith of Danvers, Andrew Stone of Haverhill, Eva and Julia Johnson of Holden and two great grandchildren, Will and Tess Stone.
Barbara was born in Newton, daughter of the late Everett D. and Elsie R. (Nichols) Burns. She was raised in Needham where she attended local schools and was a 1952 graduate of Needham High School. She later attended Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, VT where she received her Associate's Degree. Barbara was employed by the Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard for 20 years as an analyst until her retirement in 1995. She resided in Hudson for 15 years before moving to Marlboro where she spent 30 years and currently has resided in Worcester the past 3 years.
Barbara was very proud of her Scottish Heritage and looked forward to attending Highland Games often. She enjoyed spending her summer months in East Falmouth on the Cape and was an avid fan of all the local professional sports teams. She enjoyed traveling and also conversations with her family regarding their most recent trips abroad. She truly was inspired by history, reading on the subject in her spare time, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Needham Cemetery, 121 Parish Road, Needham. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Wednesday, Aug.1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
