Bernard (Bernie) J. Mikula, beloved husband, devoted family member, and veteran, passed away on September 2nd, 2024, at the Boston Medical Center. He was 87 years old. Born on October 24, 1936, to Alexander and Josephine (Papia) Mikula in Somerville, Massachusetts. Bernie’s early years were spent in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he attended local schools and graduated from Waltham High School in 1954. Following his graduation, Bernie made a significant commitment to his country by joining the Army at Fort Bragg. His service is remembered with great respect, reflecting his dedication and courage. In later years, Bernie was a proud longtime member of The Sons of Italy, where he had many great friendships. 

Bernie received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University; then he went to receive his MBA from Suffolk University. After receiving both degrees, he took several courses at The Wharton School. 

Bernie started his career as an engineer at Fenwal Electronics. After many years at Fenwal, he joined Dataram Corporation where he transitioned to a successful career in Sales and ultimately Sales Leadership. He eventually returned to Fenwal as an Executive working closely with their Business Partners. Ultimately, Bernie achieved his dream and started his own business, Mikula Associates, a successful Manufacturing Rep. Firm that he ran for years until his retirement. 

Bernie was married to Karen A. (Cotton) Mikula for the past 23 years, sharing a life filled with love, companionship and shared memories. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his sons Steven Mikula and wife Jenny of Hudson, MA; Bernard Mikula Jr. and wife Cheryl of North Reading, MA; Son-in-Law Steven Tambeau of Marlboro, MA; Stepson Richard Cotton and wife Renee of Hudson, MA; Stepdaughter Kristen Giorgi and husband David of Sterling, MA and Sister Joanne Hathaway of Marlboro, MA. He’s the very Proud Grandfather of sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews of which he is so loved. 

He was predeceased by his first wife Priscilla Mikula to whom he was married for over 35 wonderful years, and his daughter Karen Tambeau who passed away in March of 2024. 

Bernie and Karen retired in 2001 and moved to Naples, FL. They lived in Cypress Woods Golf Community, where he became president of his HOA Community for 15 years and was on the Master Board for over 10 years and was the President for 2 years. He was an avid player of golf and has several trophies that he is very proud of. He also played cards every week with a group of gentlemen that continued their friendship. 

The memory of Bernard J. Mikula will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his contributions to both his family and country will not be forgotten. 

A Funeral Mass for Bernard will be held on September 19th, 2024, at Saint Michaels Church in Hudson, MA at 10am. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bernie's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The family respectfully asks for no flowers.
