Bruce Justin Davidson, 71, a resident of Hudson, MA since 1963, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Westford House in Westford, MA. He had a six-year courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and family. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey (Collins), his spouse of 49 years.
He was born in Auburn, ME and was the son of Earlon and Valita (Froton) Davidson. He attended Auburn public school, and upon graduation studied electronics at Southern Maine Technical School in Portland, ME.
Before moving to Hudson, Bruce lived in Boston, where he was an employee of AT&T. He continued to work as a communication technician with the company at their Littleton, MA office, where he retired in 1997 after 38 years.
Bruce's love of electronics was life-long, starting when he was thirteen when he built his first ham radio. He was an avid ham radio operator, and served as an observer on the American Radio Relay League in Newington, CT. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting and communicating with people in the remote areas of the world through his radio. Prior to his illness, he was also an avid traveler of the northeast US and Canada, where on his last trip he visited the Newfoundland coast.
In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by his three children; Chris (son)and his wife Lynn of Millbury MA; Beth Chiasson (daughter) and her husband Paul of Wilder VT; Joe (son) and his wife Beth Kawaja of Los Angeles CA; and five grandchildren; Danielle, Rachelle and Brandon Chiasson; Thea and Lucian Davidson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 14th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. (www.tighehamilton.com)
