Hudson, MA
Carl Y. Saari Jr., 82, a longtime resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly at Marlboro Hospital on Friday, June 19th. He was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Patricia G. (Garceau) Saari.
Carl was born in Worcester, son of the late Carl and Agnes (Flemming) Saari. He moved to Hudson at the age of 15 and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy until being honorably discharged. Carl was employed in the construction industry and later as a truck driver, working for several local companies over the years. He was a proud member of the Hudson Amvet's and Hudson V.F. W.
Carl was well known around the town of Hudson and could often be seen enjoying a bright sunny day strolling with his beloved dog Dexter. He had many interests in his life including watching games as an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Most of all he cherished his family and being with them whenever possible, especially later catering to his loving grandchildren and adoring great grandchildren. He will surely be missed by all.
He is survived by his children, John Saari of Anchorage, Alaska, Karen Saari of Hudson, Paul Saari of Hudson and Deborah Saari of Hudson. He was predeceased by his son, William Saari in 1974. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Saari of Virginia; his 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francis Saari, Betty Grant and Nancy Devoll.
A funeral service and celebration of Carl's life will be held on Wednesday, June 24th at 9:00 p.m. in the Tighe-AHamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will be held privately at a later date in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 24th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
