Carolyn L. (Davis) Baker

HUDSON

Hudson-Carolyn Baker, 76, of Hudson passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 after a 3 ½ year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Carolyn passed away in her home surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was born in Greenfield, MA on October 3, 1941 to Maxine E. Davis and late Alton Q. Davis. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Richard L. Baker. At 19 years old, she married the love of her life and began the journey of military family living. Carolyn spent a majority of her young adulthood being a homemaker, wife, and mother. She lived in Florida, Tennessee, Maine, Rhode Island and Virginia, but her heart always belonged in Massachusetts.

Music was an important part of Carolyn’s life. In high school, she was a member of the Glee Club and part of a group known as The Singers.  She loved her reel to reel and was often singing along to Johnny Miller. Later in life, she became a country music fan and Alan Jackson was a favorite. At the First Federated Church she loved her hymns.

Carolyn was an extremely active member of the First Federated Church in Hudson, MA. She was a part of the Mission Committee and an active participant in Bible Study. Faith was an important part of her life. Carolyn continued to attend Bible Study in her home even after she was unable to attend church.

Throughout the years, Carolyn enjoyed traveling with her husband, children, mother, sisters, and friends. She became an avid Red Sox fan and traveled with her mother to Camden Yards to see them play. Camping became a big part of Carolyn and Richard’s life and York Maine is where she spent her last years camping. She made many friends there and enjoyed walking Short Sands beach collecting sea glass and searching for sand dollars.

In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed Scrabble, cribbage, history, and puzzles. She  enjoyed her collections of owls, snowmen, frogs, and rocks. Carolyn was a Trekkie who also enjoyed the Star Wars movies.  Attending her grandchildren’s sports games and concerts brought her joy.

Carolyn is survived by her 5 children, Robyn and her husband Michael Tibert of Rockport MA, Mark and his wife Abby Baker, Lisa and her husband Paul Burgess, Peter and his wife Anna Baker, and Stephen Baker and his partner Kim, all of Hudson MA. Carolyn was survived by twelve grandchildren, Michael and his wife Kristina Tibert of Gloucester MA, Beccah Tibert of Rockport, MA, Maggie B and Emilie Baker, Jonathan Graham, Jessica Graham, Nathaniel and Matthew Baker, Ashley Felice, Ethan Stadnicki, Maxine and Richard Baker, all of Hudson, MA. She was survived by her mother, Maxine Davis of Tuners Falls, MA; Her sisters Brenda Newhouse of Michigan, Cynthia (Jo) and husband Richard Boissonneault, Audrey Ward and her life partner Jeff Sinclair, Debbie and her husband Gary Bulman. Carolyn was predeceased by her sister Marie Muszynski.

Visiting hours will be held at Tighe- Hamilton Funeral Home at 50 Central St, Hudson, MA on October 7, 2018 from 3pm until 6pm. The funeral service will take place at First Federated Church, 200 Central St, Hudson, MA on October 8, 2018 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/ or Compassionate Care ALS: https://ccals.org/.
