Charles J. Coady, Sr.

Charles J. Coady, Sr., 90, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health. He leaves his beloved wife Helen M. (Westcott) Coady.

Charles was born in Maynard, MA, on August 28, 1928, one of eight children of the late James J. and Mary Ellen (O’Keefe) Coady. Charles moved to Berlin, MA, as an adolescent to help his grandmother with the household chores. He later moved to Hudson with his late wife Eleanor M. (Sykes) Coady, where he has resided for the past 55 years. Charles had a long and productive career as a Photo Lab technician at Digital Corporation and later as a Maintenance Person at the Stowe Post Office before finally retiring. Charles was true thrill seeker, who lived a long and adventurous life. In his younger days he raced midget cars at the Westboro Speedway and enjoyed riding motorcycles. Charles also loved spending time at the ocean; both deep sea fishing and scuba diving; as well as teaching people how to scuba dive. He also enjoyed skydiving, going for walks and treasure hunting for bargains at local yard sales.  Most of all Charles was a family man and will be dearly missed by those that knew him.

In addition to his wife, Helen M. (Westcott) Coady, he is also survived by his children, Carolyn Sieniawski and her husband Peter, James J. Coady and his wife Patricia, Sonia Coady and Philip Knowles; his siblings Abigail Coady, William Coady, Janet Chase and her husband Able and James D. Coady; his grandchildren, James J. Coady, Jr., Jarod Coady, Sheanna Coady, Christine Kerrigan, Steven Hodge, Doreen Hodge and Christian Knowles and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his late wife Eleanor M. (Sykes) Coady, he was also predeceased by his children, Charles J. Coady, Jr. and Lisa Marie Knowles; his sisters, Mary Saaristo, Susan Fountaine and Rita Chase and his grandson, Lucas Coady.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 10 am until 12 pm, on Wednesday, August 21, 2019; immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 pm at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St. Hudson, MA. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA.
