Charles E. Millett Jr., 92, a life long resident of Hudson, died on Tuesday, Dec. 31st at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary (Sims) Millett of Hudson.
Charles was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Charles E. Millett Sr. and Ethel (Roach) Millett. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy until being honorably discharged from active duty in 1945. He was employed as an estimator by Coldwells Lumber Co. in Berlin for 35 years and retired in 1983. Charles spent 82 years residing at several homes on Lincoln Street due to the expansion of his family and was dubbed the "Mayor of Lincoln Street" by his loving neighbors. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Hudson; life member and past Exalted Ruler of the Hudson Elks and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Charles had many interests in life but his passion was carpentry. He enjoyed building many things including boats, additions to his home and also constructed his final home on Lincoln Street prior to moving most recently to Quail Run in Hudson. He took great pride in the construction of the family camp on Scott Pond in Fitzwilliam, NH which he and the family visited during the summer months and later more often after his retirement. The family will always cherish their memories, especially the fond memories on Scott Pond.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Karen M. Hellen and her husband Charles of Marlboro, Barbara A. Millett of Hudson, Christine E. Marcotte of Hudson and Mary "Mae" Frias of Clinton. He was predeceased by his two sons, Charles W. "Chip" Millett of Southboro and survived by his daughter in-law Barbara Millett and Richard S. Millett of Hudson and survived by his daughter in-law Polly Alden. He is also survived by his 11 loving grandchildren; 10 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Flaherty of Clinton, Dorothy Panneton of Hudson and Robert Millett of Hudson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 4th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. A private burial service will be held in Saint Michael's Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, Jan. 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
