Christopher Barss, 60, died peacefully after a long illness on Sunday evening, May 19th at UMASS Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. Christopher was the son of the late William and Currie Barss of Bolton. He is survived by four siblings and their spouses; Peter Barss and his wife Myra of West Dublin, Nova Scotia, Taiya Barss and her husband Tom Sawyer of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sara Barss and her husband Tom Early of Lancaster, and Andrew Barss and his wife Janet Nicol of Tucson, AZ.
Born with Down Syndrome, Chris had a good and meaningful life. For many years he fed and cared for the cows at Templeton Farm Colony. After a hard day in the barns, Chris wanted nothing more than a bottle of Pepsi, a bag of potato chips, his favorite soft chair, and television tuned to a good football game. And While Chris asked very little of the world, he gave unconditional love to his family and to his friends. We will miss his hugs, his kisses, and his sense of humor. The family would like to thank everyone who helped Chris live a rewarding life.
We will celebrate Chris' life at 2:00 p.m. on June 8, 2013 at 66 Shirley Road, Lancaster, MA. In lieu of flowers, send donations in care of COFAR, 3 Hodges St., Mansfield, MA 02048. Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 assisted the family with arrangements.
