Clara C. (Chiasson) Shomph-95, of Hudson, died Saturday, March. 1 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center.
She was the wife of 51 years to Hubert Shomph who died in 1983. Born in Reserve Mines, Canada, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Desveaux) Chiasson, she resided in Canada most of her life moving to Hudson in 1993.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and knitting as hobbies.
She is survived by her daughters, Louise Grix of Washingtonville, NY, Geraldine MacKinnon and husband John of Hudson, Bernice Spina and husband Joseph of Mamaroneck, NY, Joan Thoresz and husband Hank of Round Rock, TX and Gloria Schrager and husband Joseph of Hudson. She is also survived by her brother, Armie Chiasson of Moncton, N.B.; 3 sisters, Elmire Dingwall of New Waterford, N.S., Velma Perisse of Pennsylvania, Adelaide Friedrich of Methuen,; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Rene and Elias Chiasson; her 2 sisters Corinne LeBlanc and Lena Ballantyne and grandson, Stephen Spina.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel Ave., New Waterford, Nova Scotia. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the V.J. McGillivary Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, Nova Scotia.
