Clarence Eugene "Gene" Searles Jr.-85, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at the home of his son Duane, with whom he had been living with since 2006, after a period of failing health.
He was the husband of the late Rita (Scally) Searles who died in 1977.
He was born in Marlborough, son of the late Clarence and Esther (Baker) Searles.
Mr. Searles resided in Hudson most of his life and was a graduate of Hudson H.S. class of 1941. He later served in the United States Navy during WWII as a motor machinist's mate on the USS LeJeune, LST-466, and LST-473.
He was employed for many years by the Chevron Chemical Company of Hudson and he retired from Instress Corp. of Hudson in 1985.
He leaves his 3 sons, Duane Searles and his wife Karen of Hudson, William Searles of Memphis, TN and Charles Searles and his wife Christine of Hudson. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Karley, Eric, Shelby and Shawn.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 with Pastor Linda Stetter officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marlborough. There are no calling hours.
