Stow, MA
A longtime resident of Stow, MA, Dana Alan Miller, 63, passed away at home with family by his side on Thursday, December 16, 2021. The cause of his death was Mesothelioma. He leaves his dear wife of 29 years, Gail A. MacKenzie.
Dana was born and raised in Westfield, MA, son of the late Edward and Marilyn Miller. He attended local schools and was a 1976 graduate of Westfield High School. Later, attending Springfield Technical Community College and receiving an Associate’s Degree in Laser Technology. He spent many years in the Laser Technology field before transitioning to a career as a licensed home inspector.
Besides his wife, Dana leaves his son, Brody Miller of Amherst, MA; his brother Wayne Miller and wife Heidi of Arizona; his sister Lori Kelley and partner Tom Herlihy of Newburyport, MA; and nieces and nephews who thought the world of him. Though, he is survived by many who have benefited from his care and knowledge: family, coworkers, those whom he coached, friends, and neighbors.
Considered a prolific handyman by those who knew him, Dana had many interests and talents. In his younger years he was a pilot, scuba diver and builder of doll houses. He enjoyed his time spent as a volunteer coach in the Stow Youth Soccer Program during his son’s playing years. Dana was often seen walking his four-legged friend Molly on Maple Street. He attended Highrock Church Acton.
Dana’s family will celebrate his life privately. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749 is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dana to: Nashoba Nursing service and Hospice or Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
