Domingos Da Silva, 93 of Sudbury, formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Wingate of Sudbury, surrounded by his beloved family, after a period of declining health. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Adelaide G. (Goncalves) Da Silva, who predeceased him on February 14, 2014.
Domingos was born in Carvalhelhos, Portugal, the son of the late Domingos Da Silva and Preciosa Enes. He immigrated to Hudson with his wife and family in 1979 and worked as an assembler at Bose Corporation for many years before eventually retiring. Domingos loved to tell jokes and make everyone smile. He was an avid gardener and farmer. He also enjoyed playing cards with many friends. He had a tremendous faith and devotion for Our Lady of Fatima. He truly enjoyed traveling back home to Portugal and spending time with his entire family.
Among his many survivors he leaves behind 7 children, Fernanda Lage and her significant other Brian Williamson, Maria Afonso and her husband Daniel, Manuela Fernandes and her husband Candido, Gloria Araujo, wife of the late Jorge Araujo, Eduardo Da Silva and his wife Danielle and Jose Manuel Da Silva and his wife Maria Augusta, all of Hudson and Maria Adelaide Freitas and her husband Dinis of Portugal. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Damazio of Portugal; his 14 grandchildren, Suzy Lage Afonso, Kevin Lage, Alicio, Natali and Henrique Freitas, Jose Domingos, Vitor, Dinis, Augusto and Isabella Silva, Melissa and Michelle Fernandes and Stephanie and Richard Araujo; 7 great grandchildren, Jorden Afonso, Kolby Lage, Tiago, Leonor, Austin & Maria Clara Freitas, and Cecilia & Gregory Silva and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was also predeceased by his brothers, Arlindo Da Silva and Luis Da Silva.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, February 23, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Domingos’ name to Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA.
Domingo’s family would also like to thank all the staff at Wingate at Sudbury for all the attentive care given and a very special thank you to Mauricio Lyrio.
