Donald M. Courtemanche, 80, of Uxbridge, formerly of Sudbury and Hudson, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 15th at his residence in Uxbridge with his loving family at his side. He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Fillmore) Courtemanche of Uxbridge.
Born in Marlboro and raised in Hudson, son of the late Peter I. and Lillian (Brandie) Courtemanche, Donald attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of Hudson High School where he played hockey, football and baseball. He was also elected captain of two teams during high school. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving as a Radio Repair Technician with the U.S. Air Force based in Germany for three years. He worked as an Electronics Technician for many local electronic companies until retiring at age 62.
Donald was very talented at producing stained glass pieces and enjoyed photography, bird watching and reading as his other hobbies.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna McGrath and her husband Scott of Northbridge and his son, David Courtemanche and his wife Darlene of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother, Richard "Dick" M. Courtemanche and his wife Barbara of Hudson and his grandchildren, Cassie and Logan McGrath of Northbridge and Shauna and Brandie Courtemanche of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Mr. Courtemanche's family thanks the Visiting Nurse Association of Worcester for their wonderful and caring hospice care in the last weeks of Donald's life.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Saturday, March 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Internment services in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, are to be held later at the convenience of the family.
