Donald F. Russell Sr., 87, of Berlin, died on Wednesday, Aug. 13th at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Shirley Jean (Parker) Russell who died in 2002.
Donald was born and raised in Keene, NH and has resided in Berlin most of his life. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He spent many years as a truck driver for Casaceli Trucking, Inc. of Hudson and also held several other various jobs locally. He enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with his friends. He liked gardening in his spare time and watching sports. He cherished time with his family, especially traveling and making frequent camping trips with his wife and children years ago. He enjoyed life to its fullest and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his son, Brian Russell of Berlin; his daughter, Donna Rock and her husband Robert of South Carolina; his five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his special friend and caretaker Patty Russell and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Donald F. Russell Jr. in 2008 and was the brother of the late Elizabeth "Libby" Russell, Irene Dumais, Billy Russell and Eddie Russell.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Sunday, Aug. 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately in North Cemetery, Berlin at a later date.
