Donald J. Toohey-72, of Hudson, MA, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at his residence with his loving family at his side.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Mary A. (Mula) Toohey of Hudson.
Born in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Eugene and Charlotte (Horne) Toohey.
He was a graduate of Waltham H.S. class of 1952 and has resided in Hudson the past 42 years.
He received his associates degree in Science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and was a former employee of the Raytheon Co. as a communications manager for 28 years. He also worked for Russells Garden Center in Wayland the past 13 years retiring in June of 2006.
He was a former member of the Hudson Garden Club and took great pride in his personal flower and vegetable gardens. He was an avid Opera enthusiast, a loyal fan of the Patriots and Red Sox and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities, especially the countless soccer matches he attended. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son; Kevin J. Toohey and his wife Elizabeth of Princeton, MA, his daughter; Kristen G. Toohey of Leominster, his three grandchildren; Brendan, Kyle and Erin Toohey of Princeton, MA. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Fox of Waltham, MA and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late; Mary Fetzer whom resided in Rockport, ME.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning street Hudson, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, MA.
