Donat Valcourt

It is with a heavy heart that my mom, brothers, and entire family announce the passing of my dad.

Dad was born in 1937 and had just celebrated his 80th birthday in October and his 60th wedding anniversary in December. My dad was in the Army and they shipped him overseas to France by boat (which he would tell you was a VERY long ride) and was so homesick for my mom. They married in 1957 and spent two of the best years of their lives living in France. They talked about so many memories like when dad fell asleep at the wheel and rolled his car! When they lived in the tiniest room in a hotel for a while which is now a broom closet. When they would eat ham and cheese baguettes and crepes with strawberries.

Kevin was born, then Scott, then me and we all somehow used to fit in a Volkswagen Beetle. Dad was the only member of his family to graduate from college and he only made it through because mom would read him the chapters from the text books because he would always fall asleep reading. They made a hell of a team.

My dad used to drill the following sentence into our feeble minds "align your priorities and set your objectives." He was so organized that even upon his death he left my mom explicit instructions on how to keep going. On how to run the house. Where everything was located. When the bonds would be matured. And he probably has all the bonds in sequential order by serial number because that's how he rolls!

So to close, I'm sure as his daughter I can speak for my family when we say "Well done dad!!!!! We love you. We celebrate you. We miss you.
