Bolton, MA
Doris R. (Smith) Traylor-Newell, 82, a long time resident of Bolton, MA and currently residing in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, died Saturday, April 28th at Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Nova Scotia. She was the wife of the late Keith Newell of Shelburne, Nova Scotia who died recently in 2012 and wife of the late David Traylor of Bolton, MA who died in 1992.
Doris was born and raised in Everett, MA, daughter of the late Harold and Isabella (Pearse) Smith. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Everett High School. She later attended Mount Ida Jr. College. She was a former school bus driver in Bolton, transporting students in both the grammar and High school levels. She later was employed by the Massachusett's Fire Academy in Stow as an assistant to the Director and later was employed by the Digital Equipment Corp. in Marlborough as an Administrative Assistant. Doris enjoyed her time in Shelburne, Nova Scotia with her extended family and friends but also made sure she was able to split her residency in Shelburne and Bolton to maintain her close ties to the community in Bolton and her loving family. She was a member of the Trinity Church Congregation in Bolton
Doris enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed the frequent motorcycle trips she took with her first husband David and children. Later in life she looked forward to the special times she spent with her friends playing cards and various games.
She is survived by her six sons, Allan Traylor and his wife Pascale of Lunenburg, Andy Traylor of Bolton and his friend Katie McDonald of Braintree, A. Daniel Traylor and his wife Debra of Lancaster, Timothy Traylor and his wife Jennifer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Terry Traylor and his wife Sheryl of Berlin and Thomas Traylor and his friend Terrie Moniz of Clinton. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas Smith of Wakefield; her daughter-in-law, Donna Traylor; 16 grandchildren, Peter, Frank and his wife Jeanne, Monica, Scott and his fiance Amanda, Christopher, Harrison, Brian and his wife Rebekah, Michael, Steven, Brooke, Abbey, Megan, Casey, Noah, Stephanie and Christian; 4 great grandchildren, Dryden, Jackson, Evan and Karina; several nieces and nephews and her three step-daughters, Dottie, Margie, Brenda, their spouses and families in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. She was the sister of the late Louise French of Waltham.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Church, 14 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Bolton, MA. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Bolton. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 4th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
