Dorothy A. (Cardin) Van Vorse, 83, life long resident of Hudson, died on Thursday, May 3rd at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leonard Van Vorse of Hudson.
Dorothy was born in Marlboro and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Homer and Alice (Josselyn) Cardin. She attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of Saint Michael's Academy in Hudson. She worked as an R.N. Assistant for the former Hudson Healthcare Center for 22 years until her retirement. Dorothy was a former Girl Scout Leader in Hudson and member of the Hudson V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She spent many years as a member of the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson and presently was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Cenacle Prayer Group in Hudson and member of the Saint Michael's Academy Alumni Association.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Colleen Szymcik and her husband Mark of Worcester, Kathleen Hill and her husband Craig of Union, CT; four grandchildren, Anne Bernard of Webster, Kevin Bernard of Worcester, Ryan Beckman of West Brookfield, Nathaniel Beckman of Lewiston, ME; her great granddaughter, Olivia Curran and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert and Richard Cardin and June Millman.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 7h at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
