Douglas P. Howlett, 78, of Southbridge, formerly of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving family by his side, on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Carol Ann (Pratt) Howlett.
Doug was born on February 26, 1940, in Winchendon, MA, one of eight children. He was raised in Hubbardston and following high school he went on to earn a master’s degree and began a successful career as a Computer Analyst in which he spent many years working for the United States Government. Doug moved to Hudson, MA shortly after finishing his education and resided in town until 8 months ago when he moved to Southbridge.
Doug enjoyed the outdoors in his free time and was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a true family man and the patriarch of the family; whose home was the center of all family activities. His devotion to his wife and children never ceased and he was an amazing role model for the generation that followed him.
Doug is survived by his four sons, Douglas H. Howlett and his wife Lisa of Tewksbury, Christopher J. Howlett and his wife Laura of Cape Cod, Robert F. Howlett and his wife Willow of Medway and David P. Howlett and his wife Rose Braga of Southbridge; his sister, Polly Joubert; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Howlett, Gaitlyn Howlett, Gage Howlett, Tamara Howlett and Thor Howlett and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Carol Ann (Pratt) Howlett and his parents; Doug was also predeceased by his siblings, Andy Howlett, Tom Howlett, Steve Howlett, Nancy Murdock, John Howlett and Louis Panneton.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 1 pm until 3 pm, followed by a Celebration of his life at 3 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a cancer charity of your choice.
