Edmond J. Daigneault, 77, a life long resident of Hudson, died on Friday, Jan. 14th at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet (Thomas) Daigneault of Hudson.
Edmond was born in Marlboro and raised in Hudson, son of the late William and Viola (Verrier) Daigneault. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School, class of 1951. Following high school he served his country with the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he attended Northeastern University in Boston where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering. Edmond worked for many years as an electronics engineer for several companies locally until retiring from Pacific Scientific of Cambridge in 1992.
Edmond was very active with local youth sports. He served as a coach in both the Youth Baseball and Youth Hockey programs in Hudson for many years and also became a youth hockey referee. He was a member of the Central Mass Rusty Blades hockey team which awarded him the opportunity to join with his many friends in a sport he loved. Edmond enjoyed wood crafting in his spare time at his home wood working shop and designed many cherished items for his family and friends. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife Janet, he is survived by his four children, Marie Tartufi and her husband Thomas of Worcester, Michael Daigneault and his wife Jane of Auburn, Regina White and her husband Christopher of Charlton and Sharon Stanchfield and her husband Jerome of Oregon City, Oregon. He is also survived by his two brothers, John Daigneault of Sterling, Joseph Daigneault of Hudson; his four sisters, Margaret Sullivan of Hudson, Virginia Gutman of Clinton, Viola Romanelli of Hudson, Mary DeBeradinis of Hudson; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William and Paul Daigneault.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 19th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. (www.tighehamilton.com)
