Edmund Arthur Sullivan, son of the late Francis and Bernice (Burnham) Sullivan passed away on Friday, December 19, 2008 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester, MA after a period of failing health. Born in Colebrook, MA on September 14, 1921, the family moved to Hudson, MA in 1925. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lorraine (McPartlen) in 2003.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by three daughters, Ann Debs and her husband Edward of Hudson; Patricia Sullivan and her partner Michael DeMaio of Windsor, CT; Jayne Sullivan and her husband Thomas of Weare, NH; and a son Daniel Sullivan and his wife Katherine of Attleboro, MA. Mr. Sullivan is also survived by five grandchildren Timothy, Kyle, Brittany, Anna, and Kerry Sullivan, and a sister, Helen Charbonneau and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Herbert and Albert and two sisters Barbara Lapan and Shirley Borella.
Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed for 45 years by New England Tape Co. and was a communicant of Christ the King Church. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and took great care each year in planting his flower and vegetable gardens. He proudly shared his tomatoes with neighbors and friends. He enjoyed family vacations on Cape Cod and at Walt Disney World. While visiting Disney World at 84, Ed rode not only the Tower of Terror but test rode the Mt. Everest roller coaster with great joy.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their kind and compassionate care over the past few months.
Calling hours will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery.
