Edna Mae (Nash) Maddocks died peacefully in her sleep on September 14, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family. Edna would tell you she lived a good life.
Edna was born on February 9, 1931 in Hudson Mass to Edna (Fournier) and John Nash. She was the 3rd of 7 children when families were much larger. Edna was predeceased by her husband Al, her parents and by four of her siblings -John Nash, Patrick Nash, Mary Crowell, and James Nash.
Edna was born in Hudson Mass and lived there most of her life, spending her adult summers in Eastham with Al and her children, and eventually winters in Wildwood, FL with her snowbird friends. She moved to Yarmouth Port in 2015.
Growing up in the 30s and 40s was much different than it is today. Edna lived through the Great Depression and too many wars, had many adventures with family and friends, and saw several technology changes over the course of her life - cars, indoor plumbing, telephone, cable tv, computers, cell phones, the internet - she mastered them all!
Edna married her husband Alexander Maddocks in 1957. She was a stay at home mom, maintaining a home for her family as many mothers did in the 60s and 70s. With her 4 children she was involved in the usual school events, girl scouts, car pools, and church, taught swimming at Babson college, enjoyed large extended family holidays, and loved summers at the Cape Cod National Seashore beaches. She always made room and enough food at the dinner table for all expected and unexpected friends. She was later involved with her grandchildren - attending countless dance recitals, baseball games, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, and high school concerts. Edna was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Edna valued education- she graduated from St Michael’s Academy in Hudson, and Wyndham Business School in Boston. Her children celebrated as she accepted her college diploma from Quinsigamond Community College in 1985. After graduation Edna worked in public accounting and continued taking courses towards her bachelors degree at Framingham State College. Before retirement Edna was the accountant for Tucks Trucks in Hudson Mass
She is survived by 2 sisters Dorothy Cormier and Jane Philbin. She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses - Kathleen Maddocks Fulginiti, Christopher Maddocks (Lisa) , Sandra Allaire (Joseph), Kelly Cifelli (Robert), her six grandchildren Alexa DiGirolamo (Anthony) and Michael Fulginiti, Cheryl Mirando (Tom) and Alexander Maddocks; Kevin Daly and Brian Daly, and great-grandson Ryan Mirando, as well several nieces and nephews and furry grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the VNA of Cape Cod for their excellent and compassionate Hospice care.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services in Hudson on Thursday Sept 16. Visitation at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM, Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St Michaels’s Church, followed by burial at Forestdale Cemetery, Hudson.
