Hudson, MA
Edward F. Levell Jr., 79, of Marlboro, formerly a long time resident of Hudson, died Thursday, June 10th at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlboro.
Edward was born and raised in Fall River, son of the late Edward F. Sr. and Katherine (Lowney) Levell. He was a graduate of Durfee High School, class of 1948 and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 1952. He later attended Northeastern University earning a Master's Degree in Engineering. Edward was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed as a Technical Director by the U.S. Army, Natick Labs for 30 plus year until his retirement in 1988. Edward also spent 13 years instructing night courses in Engineering at Northeastern University. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Maureen Lurvey of Marlboro; his four children, Karen A. Levell of Hudson, David J. Levell and his wife Diane of Hudson, Andrew J. Levell and his wife Tina of Hillsborough, NH and Stephen M. Levell of Woodstock, CT. He was predeceased by his son, Edward P. Levell in 2000. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Lyons of Swansea; his four grandchildren, Sarah, Cassie and David Levell Jr. and Meghan Araujo along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond and Clement Levell and the grandfather of the late Nicholas Araujo.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 14th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 13th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
