Eleanor M. (Meers) Gearty, 87, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Hudson, died on Saturday, November 21st at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Clermont, FL. She was the wife of the late George P. Gearty for 49 years who died in 1994.
Eleanor was born and raised in Medford, daughter of the late George W. and Mary J. (Whealon) Meers and was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1939. She moved to Hudson in 1955 and resided here until moving to Clermont, FL in 2004. She worked for many years as a clerk for the former Harrity Co. in Hudson until she retired. She was a long time member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Wheeler and her husband Clifton of Clermont, FL; her sister, Alice Carney of Virginia; her brother, Robert Meers of Sharon; her two grandchildren, Paul Wheeler of Clermont, FL, Lori Fuchs of Orlando, FL and three great grandchildren, Austin Wheeler and Blake and Colby Fuchs.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 28th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 27th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
