Hudson, MA
Eleanor Florence Hallett, 75, of Hudson, MA, died March 30 at the UMASS Memorial Hospital, University Campus, in Worcester, MA. Born October 27, 1937 in Canton, MA, to John Dray and Catherine (Angus) Dray, she was a 1955 graduate of Canton High School. Following graduation, she joined John Hancock Insurance in Boston. In 1957, the Canton native left John Hancock to marry Joseph W. Hallett, a Stoughton HS football player turned US Army paratrooper and field medic. The Canton / Stoughton football rivalry lived on throughout their 56 year marriage.
On various assignments with the US Army during Joseph's 23 year military career, the family traveled to Europe and across the United States. During their journey together, Eleanor raised three beautiful children, while honing her skills as an artist - working in various medium including sketching, charcoals, oil and water color painting, and reading - about our history, our humanity, and our quest to learn about the universe and our place in it.
In 1972, the family moved to Hudson, MA and became part of the Hudson community - through active involvement in the Hudson school system, school sports and arts programs, and as parishioners at St. Michael's Catholic Parish. In the early 1980's, she joined The Harrity Print Company as a bookkeeper and work there for many years. She also enjoyed serving the public in a variety of positions at various local supermarkets over the years.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed nurturing and spoiling her family. She was a loyal friend, a patron of the arts, an incredible artist in her own rights, and a great role model for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by those who have been left behind including her loving husband, Joseph W. Hallett of Hudson, MA, and her loving children Dianna L. Hallett of Hudson, MA, Michael W. and Amy J. Hallett of Fayetteville, NC, and Margaret C. Hallett of Upton, MA, and four beloved grandchildren Ashley P. Hallett of Dover, NH, Natasha N. Hallett of Fayetteville, NC, Gregory M. Hallett of Fayetteville, NC, and Joseph W. Hallett II of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves six loving siblings, including Natalie (Dray) Howard of Easton, MA, Margaret (Dray) Storkus of Canton, MA, Dorothy (Dray) Pensinger (deceased) formerly of West Bridgewater, MA, Elsie (Dray) Burrell of Whiting, ME, John Dray of Crawford, ME, and Richard and Jeanne Dray of Stoughton, MA, and many nieces and nephews across New England.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours (10:00am - 12:00pm) and a memorial service (12:00pm) on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home located at 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA.
