Elizabeth Doherty

November 11, 1945 — December 17, 2024

Hudson, MA

Elizabeth A. (Betty)  Doherty, born on November 11, 1945, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in Hudson, Massachusetts. She leaves behind a legacy marked by kindness and a genuine love for both her work and the animals she cherished.

Betty devoted her career to the legal profession, most recently serving as a Legal Secretary at Goulston & Storrs Law Firm. Her dedication was evident through her active membership in the Boston Legal Secretaies Association (served as President for a term), Massachusetts Association of Legal Secretaries, and the National Association of Legal Secretaries. Betty attained the designation of Professional Legal Secretary.  She remained in touch with many friends made through these associations.  These affiliations speak volumes about her commitment to her profession and the respect she garnered among her colleagues.

Beyond her professional life, Betty knew how to appreciate the simple pleasures. She found joy in the tranquility of life, often seeking solace in her love for Hallmark Movies. Her passion for animals (especially cats and giraffes) highlighted her compassionate spirit, reflecting her innate kindness and care for those around her.  She especially enjoyed watching the giraffe cam at The Animal Adventure Park in New York.

Betty is remembered fondly by her dear friend Susan Rockwell, her sister-in-law Ruth Doherty, and her nephew Kevin R. Doherty.  Ruth's family also treasured Betty and greatly enjoyed the times when she was able to visit them, especially at Christmas. They, along with many others, will carry the memories of her warm presence and unwavering support in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. Doherty, her mother Bessie (Wagner) Doherty and her brother Robert F. Doherty, whom she cherished deeply.

A Mass in Betty's memory will be held on January 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St Isidore Catholic Church located at 429 Great Road, Stow, Massachusetts. The service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to honor her life and reflect on the beautiful impact she made during her time with us.
