Elizabeth L. (Mason) Jordan, adventurer and loving matriarch, 103, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She is reunited in Heaven with her late husband Chester Jordan, who predeceased her in 1965.
Elizabeth was born on December 23, 1915, in Marlborough, Ma, a daughter of the late Thomas H. Mason and Irene B. Lincoln. She was raised and graduated high school in Marlborough with the class of 1933, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College in 1937. During the summers when she taught in Holliston, Lexington, and Worcester before her marriage, she ventured with friends on road trips throughout the US and to Mexico City. Elizabeth moved to Hudson in 1948, teaching Kindergarten for several years in her home; then taught for many years in the Northborough Public Schools.
Elizabeth was a member of the First Federated Church of Hudson, the Rebeccas, and Eastern Star for many years. She enjoyed square dancing and knitting sweaters for her family and friends. She also had a passion for music her entire life and was a talented pianist and organist.
Amongst her many survivors, she leaves behind her three children, Margaret E. “Peggy” Sleeper and her significant other, Paul Donahue, of Hudson, MA, Nancy Keblin and her husband Michael of Edgecomb, ME, and Thomas Jordan and his partner Suzanne Lamoureux of Berlin, MA; a sister, Naiad Thompson of Mesa, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Chester Jordan, and her parents, she was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Charles Mason and Alfred Bond.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 4 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 in the funeral home; followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery in Marlborough, Ma.
