Ellen M. (Mason) Daley, 89, of Hudson, passed away on Friday, Feb. 6th at Beaumont Nursing Home in Westborough. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Daley who died in 1980 and resided in Hudson most of her adult life.
Mrs. Daley was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Thomas and Mae (Hastings) Mason and was a 1936 graduate of Clinton H.S. She attended the Clinton Hospital School of Nursing and received her degree in nursing in 1941. After several years of private duty nursing, she started working as an Operating Room & Emergency Room nurse at Marlboro Hospital and ultimately became the 3-11 Evening Supervisor, responsible for managing all hospital operations until her retirement in 1982.
She was a board member at Marlboro Hospital, charter member of the Hudson Emblem Club, Hudson Senior Center member, and a parishioner at Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
In addition to spending time with her children & grandchildren, Mrs. Daley enjoyed traveling, shopping, various crafts and playing bingo. She was a very happy, outgoing person and loyal friend.
Mrs. Daley was a devoted mother of three children, Jane Blanchard of Myrtle Beach, SC, Tricia Girard and husband Joe of Hudson and Patrick Daley and his wife Sally of Hudson. She also leaves her grandchildren, Joe Blanchard, Nicole Krier and Lyndsey, Ryan, Brendan and Alex Daley; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Joe Mason and Harold Mason.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 9th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
