Ellen M. (Matthews) Smith, 70, of Hudson, died on Tuesday, May 19th at Marlboro Hospital. She was the former wife of the late William E. Smith who died in 1988.
Born in Wellesley, daughter of the late George H. and Ellen (Marsh) Matthews, she has resided in Hudson the past 40 years. She was a graduate of Newton North H.S. She was employed as a payroll clerk by the former Digital Equipment Corp. for 25 years and later worked for the Perini Construction Co. of Framingham for 10 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Hudson Historical Society, member of the Hudson River's Edge Chorus and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her three children, Mark Smith and his wife Joanne, Diane Smith and Greg Smith, all of Hudson. She is also survived by her brother, David Matthews and his wife Ethel of Hudson; her sister, Nancy Bibby of Burlington; her three grandchildren, Greg Smith Jr. of Bethel, ME and Tyler and Evan Smith of Hudson and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
