Emilia S. (Fairia) Costa, 95, of Hudson, died on Friday, May 16th surrounded by her loving family at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Costa who died in 1989.
Emilia was born and raised on the Island of Faial, the Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel and Franscia (Silvira) Fairia. She emigrated from Portugal to Hudson and has resided here the past 40 plus years. She was employed by the Sheraton Hotel Co. in Framingham as a housekeeper for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her children, Manuela Porter and her husband David of Meciville, WA, Orlanno Silva and his wife Maria of Portugal and Maria Batista and her husband Vasco of Hudson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sandra Medeiros, Diana Batista, Andre Batista, Christopher Batista and Richie Porter along with 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 21st at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Tuesday, May 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
