HUDSON

Florence M. (Hazen) Picard, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Coleman House in Northborough after a long illness. She was born and raised in Somerville, the daughter of Wilber and Florence (App) Hazen. She lived in Burlington before moving to Hudson, where she lived for over 50 years.

Her loving husband of 62 years, Donald R. Picard, passed away in 2014. She leaves five children, James R. Picard and his wife, Bonnie Jean of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada; Mary B. Picard of Attleboro; Susan M. Picard and her husband, John Scoggins of Seneca, SC; Cynthia A. Buchmeyer of Chattanooga, TN; and Denise F. Rigby and her husband, Stephen of Suffield, CT; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert Hazen and three sisters, Elizabeth Dillon, Barbara Bowes and Margaret Hazen.

Florence graduated from Somerville High School. She lovingly and selflessly raised five children, and was later employed for 10 years at Digital Equipment Corporation in Hudson. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, and was the religious education director for fifteen years at the former Christ the King Church. Florence was devoted to her Faith and her family, and placed their needs always before her own. Florence was blessed with many gifts. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and painting; often for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved working in her gardens, and plants flourished under her care. In most recent years, Florence endured her disease with dignity...just as she carried out her life.

Calling hours for Florence will be held on Wednesday, December 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, GA 30047
