Francis P. Bonner

Francis “Frank” P. Bonner, 88 of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, after an active and healthy life. He leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Mary Jane (Lewis) Bonner.  As the patriarch of the Bonner family, Frank was adored and revered.

Frank was born in Brighton, MA, one of ten children, to the late Philip C. and Mary M. (Deehan) Bonner.  He and his nine siblings grew up in the Allston/Brighton area of Boston where they had a happy, love-filled childhood.  He attended Boston English High School before proudly enlisting in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country from 1950 until 1954. Frank married the love of his life, Mary Jane Lewis, on January 23, 1954 and together they settled in Hudson, MA. Frank worked for over thirty-five years as a Union Bricklayer in the BMPIU Local #15 . He was an avid reader, loved history and music, playing golf, and researching his family genealogy.  Frank’s quick wit and animated storytelling entertained all who knew him, especially his twenty-one grandchildren. Frank was a long-time member of Saint Michael’s Parish as well as the Hudson-Concord Elks 959.

In addition to his adoring wife Mary Jane, Frank is also survived by his six children, Ann M. Peters and her husband Dr. Gary of Westboro, Daniel F. Bonner and his wife Susan of Dripping Springs, TX, Frank P. Bonner, Jr, and his wife Betsy of Boylston, MA, John P. Bonner and his wife Theresa of Easton, ME, Jane M. Counter and her husband Kevin of East Lyme, CT and Kerry E. Wanamaker and her husband Daniel of Lancaster, MA; his grandchildren, Christopher Peters, Jane Peters, Garrett Peters, Caitlin Bonner, Alexandra Bonner, Shannon Bonner, Olivia Bonner, Neil Bonner, Catherine Bonner, Ryan Bonner, Emma Bonner, Delia Bonner, Paul Bonner, Augustus Bonner, Julia Counter, Samuel Counter, Maeve Counter, Claire Wanamaker, Mary Jane Wanamaker, Jack Wanamaker, Nora Wanamaker; his sister, Anne Jenkins and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was also predeceased by his siblings, John, William, Mary (Dearden), Philip, Edward, Thomas, Robert, and James.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Hudson, MA.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church on 21 Manning Street, Hudson MA at 9am on Friday, February 2, 2018. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hudson Public Library, 3 Washington Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
