Francis Barry Hinkley, 86, of Stow, formerly of Bedford, died on Tuesday, Dec. 15th at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of the late Florence L. (Daley) Hinkley who died in 2003.
Francis was born in Somerville, son of the late Edward B. and Mary M. (Barry) Hinkley. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 9th Radar Calculating Detachment. Francis attended the former Vesper George School of Art in Boston and was employed for many years as an Artist/Illustrator by the Raytheon Co. in Bedford until his retirement.
He is survived by his son, Michael E. Hinkley Sr. and his wife Catherine of Stow; his daughter, Deborah A. Randolph and her husband James of Ladson, SC and his sister, Vera M. Weaver of Franklin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael E. Hinkley Jr. of Santa Monica, CA, Shannon M. Hinkley of Framingham, Barry M. Petrucci and Katie E. Petrucci, both of Wakefield and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by his son, Robert F. Hinkley of Bedford and his brother, Edward T. Hinkley of Fairfax, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19th, at 12:00 noon at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. He will be laid to rest at the Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19th from 10:00 to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
