Frederica R. (Hammond) Fortin, 83, long time resident of Hudson, died Monday, Oct. 11th with her loving family at her side at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westboro. She was the wife of 60 years to the late Roger N. Fortin who died in 2008.
Frederica was born in Newton and raised in Framingham, daughter of the late Benjamin and Rose (Desjardins) Hammond. She was a graduate of Framingham High School, class of 1944 and later attended the Framingham Union Hospital Cadet Nursing School. She received her LPN license at the age of 50 after graduating at the top of her class from the Assabet Valley School of Nursing in Marlboro. Frederica enjoyed the many years she devoted to her profession proudly. Most recently she was the Charge Nurse of the night shift at Bolton Manor Nursing Home in Marlboro for 10 plus years until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson where she also was a former CCD instructor and past President of the Hudson PTA.
She is survived by her children, Denis Fortin and his wife Elaine of Bellingham, Christine Yadlon and her husband William of Winchendon Springs, Joseph Fortin and his wife Roanne of Bristol, Maine, Mark Fortin and his wife Deborah of Hopkinton, Matthew Fortin and his wife Kathy of Bellingham, Lisa Andrellos and her husband Thomas of Upton and Roger Fortin and his wife Heather of Framingham. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 13th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
