George V. Davies, 87, of Hudson, died on Wednesday, Nov. 20th at The Reservoir Center in Marlboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Hoy who died in 2011.
George was born in Malagash, Nova Scotia, son of the late Victor and Elizabeth (Purdy) Davies. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy until being honorably discharged in 1946. He resided in Waltham for many years before settling in Hudson in 1964. He was employed as a machinist by W.H. Nichols in Waltham for 44 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a life member of the Hudson Amvets Post 208; member of the Hudson Eagles, Hudson Elks, V.F.W. of Hudson and Tin Can Sailor.
George had many interests including gardening, canoeing on the Charles River and roller skating with his wife Patricia. Most of all, he will be remembered as a kind and devoted volunteer, giving most of his free time to helping others in need.
He is survived by his three sons, Tom Davies and his wife Brenda of Ormond Beach, FL, Mark Davies of New Lebanon, NY and Paul Davies of Destin, FL. He is also survived by his two brothers, John Davies of Harwichport, Cape Cod, Donald Davies of Hudson; his two loving grandchildren, Leah and Michael Davies; his nieces and nephews and his devoted friend and caretaker, Julie Boudreau of Hudson.
A celebration of George's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30th at 12:00 noon at the Hudson Amvets Post 208, 5 South Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
