George Homer Davis, 86, of Greenville, NH, former long time resident of Cambridge, MA, died on Sunday, March 10th at Catholic Memorial Hospital in Manchester, NH. He was the loving husband of Barbara R. (Mattison) Davis of Greenville, NH for 60 years; exceptional father to Paula Davis of W. Yarmouth, John Davis and his wife Carol of Ramsey, NJ, Karl R. Davis and his wife Susan of Endfield, NH, Earl G. Davis and his wife Sandy of Fayville, MA, Katherine Collins and her husband Scott of Lunenburg, MA and Jennifer Davis and her fiancAC., Paul Stockmaster, both of Gardner, MA. He was also a wonderful grandfather to Karl G. Davis of Clinton, MA, Matthew L. Davis of Framingham, MA, Jonathan M. Fontaine of Waltham, MA, Karissa O. Collins of Lunenburg, MA, Joseph G. Davis of Fitchburg, MA, Christopher M. Hebert of Gardner, MA, Angela G. Davis of Fayville, MA; great grandfather to Nolan, Tyler and Caleb Davis, and Daniel J. Hebert-Peppard; brother of Abbie LaFalle of Randolph, MA and leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland E. Davis, Charles M. Davis, Hazel Santoliquido and Ercel Davis.
George was born and raised in Cambridge, MA, son of the late Homer A. and Annie R. (Miller) Davis. He faithfully served his country as a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, 502nd Heavy Weapons Co. as a mortar man. He retired from MIT in Cambridge, MA in 1994 where he held a position as mail carrier for many years. He and his wife Barbara have resided in Greenville, NH since his retirement.
Besides his love of family, George was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. He was a true follower and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was an active member of Trinity Church in Bolton, MA.
Calling hours will be held at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 on Thursday, March 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 15th at 11:30 a.m. in Trinity Church, 14 Wattaquadoc Hill Road, Bolton, MA followed by a luncheon in Fellowship Hall at the church. Internment with Military Honors will take place on Friday, March 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
