George A. “Chip” DeSantis, 81, of Bolton passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was the devoted husband of Mary Ellen (Eklund) DeSantis. They had been married for 53 years.

Chip was born in Marlborough, MA to August “George” DeSantis and Gladys (Still) DeSantis. He was raised in Hudson, MA and graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1961. In 1964, he trained as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force Reserve. Upon their marriage in 1971, Chip and Mary Ellen moved to Bolton, where they raised their family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his 3 children, Mary Lee DeSantis of Bolton, Joanne Pasquarosa and her husband Rick of Ashburnham, James DeSantis and his partner Alicia Assuncao and her 2 children Alex and Lydia of Framingham. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Zakkary Chaves, Jarred Chaves, Marissa, Nicholas, Jaelynn, Giovanni and Josiah Pasquarosa. He is survived by his 2 sisters, Betsy Lucht of Murphy, NC and Loretta Cunha and her husband Victor of Hudson, as well as his cousin David Still, who was like a brother to him, and his wife Linda of Mesquite, NV. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as his sister-in-law Kathleen Brooks and brother-in-law Harris Dalrymple. He was pre-deceased by brothers-in-law Jim Brooks and Cliff Lucht and sister-in-law Joanne Dalrymple.

Chip always enjoyed getting up early and going to work. He had worked as a surveyor, a facilities manager at Acton Corporation, a carpenter for Richard Massarelli, and finally retired as a framer with Bailey & Smith Construction. He was a talented finish carpenter and worked on many projects for friends and family, including his family’s current home.

Chip had many friends dating back to high school and the softball league whom he still met up with for coffee. He belonged to several bowling leagues over the years. He enjoyed watching various sports, especially the Boston sports teams. He was a life-long fisherman and enjoyed being outside and observing the local wildlife.

He was easygoing and had a wonderful sense of humor. A loving and supportive father, he was adored by his children and grandchildren. We are forever grateful for his presence in our lives growing up: encouraging our academic pursuits, attending our school and sporting events, helping take care of our various pets and going to 4-H fairs, putting in our inground pool with friends and neighbors, and taking us on vacations to Cape Cod and Maine. He always assisted Mary Ellen with her church activities over the years. Thank you, dad, for being mom’s primary care giver these past 3 years! You will be greatly missed.

Please consider a donation to Habitat for Humanity in memory of Chip (www.ncmhabitat.org) or a charity of your choice.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA.
