George G. Laghetto Jr., 74, of Hudson, passed away at his residence with his loving family at his side on Thursday, Dec. 10th. He leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia A. (Alves) Laghetto of Hudson.
George was born in Brockton, son of the late George G. Laghetto Sr. and Muriel (Shurtleff) Laghetto. He was raised in Somerville where he attended local schools. He worked as a truck operator for over 39 years with the Teamsters Local 25 until his retirement. He has resided in Hudson since 1968. He was a member of the "Easy Riders" Snowmobile Club and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
George had many hobbies and interests throughout his life including fishing, clamming and tending to his lobster pots in Gloucester. He enjoyed boating and as a member of the Heron Way Marina in Gloucester he looked forward to displaying his large collection of boats (one for every day of the week). His passion in life was for speed, whether it be for a long trip with his many friends on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, a good day on his snowmobile or a fast ride in one of his boats in Gloucester. He also cherished his 2001 Chevrolet Corvette. A beautiful day to George was a day at the Wingaersheek Beach with family and friends in Gloucester or a day of playing tennis or pickle ball while wintering in Northport, Florida. His devotion to his family and friends and his talent as a handyman, assisting anyone with a good project or repair will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, George G. Laghetto III of Marlboro and his daughter, Patricia Capua of Florida. He is also survived by his two loving grandchildren, Nicole Capua and Benjamin R. Capua III, both of Florida along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Young of Medford.
